Summary
Some experiments were carried out to know the effects of plant growth regulators, GA3 and PCPA on quality and yield in cucumber (Cucumis sativus, L.). Results of GA3 and PCPA treatments to cucumber in polyethylene film house were as followed. The treatment of GA3 at 25 ppm and PCPA at 5 ppm increased fruit setting, enlarged fruit size and formed the shape of cucumber more straight compared with the control. Two plant growth regulators increased content of leaf chlorophyll and number of survival leaves, but plant height and internode length were not affected by them. In cucumber, GA3, and PCPA treatment at flowering time harvested the more yields of 19-30% than the untreated control. But there were many differences between the two plant growth regulators in fruit formation. GA3 application at flower and at young fruit stage by sparying was the more effective to preventing the formation of curved shape fruits. From the commercial view point, treatment of GA3 at 25 ppm and PCPA at 5 ppm by flower spray method at blooming time were recommanded for the best use of two plant growth regultors. [AS]
