Summary
A sample of mungbean sprouts with about 1 cm long blackish lesions was found infected with Macrophomina phaseolina. When a seed sample obtained from the same producer was examined, M. phaseolina was recovered from about 2% of the seeds. It seems that the outbreak of charcoral rot on mungbean sprouts originated from infected imported seed. [THH]
