Summary
Standard and large leaf samples were found to be comparable in percent moisture loss and very similar to drought stress ratings in potted plants and field plantings. The pot plant ratings were more accurate in predicting drought stress tolerance when compared to field ratings. However, the detached leaf method was more useful in handling large populations. The larger more mature leaves had a more constant percent moisture loss than the younger standard size leaf. [AS]
