Abstract
`Chmaberlain` soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] (Reg. no. 194) was developed by the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station. It was released (August 1986) because of its resistance to brown stem rot. Chamberlain originated as a F4 plant selection from the cross A76-304020 X Land O`Lakes``Max`. It is classified as Maturity Group III and has purple flowers, brown pubescence, brown pods, and seeds with shiny yellow coats and black hila. It is homozygous for Rps1, a gene for resistance to phytophthora rot, and is resistant to bacterial pustule. [AS/LSW]
