Summary
None of the 60 genotypes of chilli (Capsicum annuum Linn.) screened against its powdery-mildew [Leveillula taurica (Lev.) Arn.] both in the field and in the laboratory during 1977 and 1978 showed complete resistance. `Puri Orange 2` performed better, followed by `EC 21660`, `Puri Red`, `EC 31308`, `EC 34242` and `Puri Orange 1`. The varieties were more susceptible in the laboratory than in the field. Eighteen varieties were found to be susceptible throughout their growth period. Though `EC 34237` showed a high susceptiblity, its infection was seen only on the 67th day after planting. [AS]
