Summary
Performance of different pulse and oilseed crops was evaluated as intercrops with millet (Eleusine coracana L.) in different proportions on area basis. The results revealed that the sole crops of blackgram or millet are most suitable and profitable which gave the net returns of Rs. 944.9 and Rs. 877.6/ha, respectively. Intercropping of millet + blackgram in 3:1 and 1:1 proportions gave the net returns of Rs. 761.2 and Rs. 761.2 and Rs. 666.9/ha, respectively which was followed by millet + cowpea in 3:1 proportion (Rs. 540.5/ha). Net profit recorded by the intercropping of oilseeds viz., sesame and niger in millet 3:1 and 2:1 proportion on area basis was marginal. [AS]
