Summary
Field experiments were conducted during winter, 2010-11 and 2011-12 at the Central Farm, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar to evaluate the bioefficacy of a new product emamectin benzoate 5 SG at three doses viz., 5.00, 6.75 and 8.50 g a.i./ha for controlling the fruit and shoot borer in okra. The new product @ 8.5 g a.i./ha was the most effective treatment which reduced the larval population to the tune of 74.18-88.01%, shoot damage by 93.72%, fruit damage by 92.82% and increased the fruit yield to 72.13% over untreated check. However, this treatment was at par with its lower dose of @ 6.75 g a.i./ha and the check, Proclaim (emamectin benzoate 5 SG) @ 6.75 g a.i./ha on the basis of larval population, shoot and fruit damage and yield.
