Summary
Good agricultural practice is the total sum of all processes in farm operations that optimise the natural and environmental potentials of a crop. The genetic potential of okra determines its usefulness as a nutritional crop, its adaptation and cropping pattern. It leads to prodution of adequate food and cash crops and promotes responsible use of agricultural inputs such as fertilizer, good quality seed, cropping systems and agro-chemicals in order to ensure sufficient and affordable food production. For optimum pod and seed production, a good agricultural practice is important in bringing out the maximum effects of quality seeds, crop genetic resources, cultural practices such as clearing, planting, weeding, pest and disease control, timely harvesting, good packaging, processing, storage and preservation methods.
