Summary
Genetic analysis in mustard (Brassica juncea) involving fifteen lines and two testers were used to study the genetics during rabi 2009-2011 at College of Agriculture, Nagpur. Thirty crosses along with seventeen parents were studied in rabi 2010-2011 and data were recorded on days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height (cm), number of branches plant-1, number of siliqua plant-1, 1000 seed weight (g) and seed yield plant-1. The data were analyzed by simplified triple test cross analysis. The analysis of variance for experimental design revealed significant genetic variability among them. Epistasis was found to be present for all the characters except for plant height. Additive genetic component was predominant over dominance genetic component for all the characters studied. The maximum additive genetic variation was contributed by the parents Seeta, GM-2, Bio-902, Pusa bahar and JD-6. Hence, these lines were identified to be useful for improvement of economic traits and may be utilized in hybridization programme.
