Title
Allelopathy of aqueous extract from hot pepper plant
Publication Date
2009
Call Number
A:PS
Summary
Allelopathy of hot pepper plant is studied by measuring seedling growth of flower Chinese cabbage and lettuce watered with the aqueous extract of hot pepper plant. This study leads to the following conclusions: 1. Hot pepper plant aqueous extract at lower concentration (0.02 g/mL)accelerates the seedling shoot length of flower Chinese cabbage and lettuce, but restrains the root length and root weight of flower Chinese cabbage while it promotes the root length and shoot weight of lettuce; 2. hot pepper plant aqueous extract at higher concentration (0.06 g/mL and 0.08 g/mL) checks seedling root length and root weight of flower Chinese cabbage and lettuce, and the function of restraint enhances with the increase of concentration, but it advances the seedling shoot length of flower Chinese cabbage and seedling shoot weight of lettuce to some degree, and the function of acceleration weakens with the increase of concentration; and 3. the 0.04 g/mL of hot pepper plant aqueous extract controls seedling root weight of those two vegetables, promotes the seedling shoot length of flower Chinese cabbage and the seedling shoot weight and root length of lettuce, and restrains the seedling root length of flower Chinese cabbage and the shoot length of lettuce.
