Summary
The Delta 6 fatty acid desaturase [linoleoyl-CoA desaturase] (D6D) gene from Mortierella alpina was successfully transferred into the soyabean cultivars Jilin 35, Jilin 43, Jilin 47, Suinong 10, Suinong 14 and Heinong 37 by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation system. PCR and Southern hybridization analysis proved that the exogenous gene was transferred and integrated into the soyabean genome. Northern hybridization analysis showed that the D6D gene of transgenic soyabean was expressed at the mRNA level. Gas chromatography indicated that gamma -linolenic acid (C18:3 Delta 6.9.12) accounted for 25.165% of the total fatty acids in seeds of transgenic soyabean.
