Summary
To study the effect of intercropping of sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum) with radish (cv. Punjab Safed), cabbage, and onion (cv. Punjab Naroya), a field experiment was conducted during 1997/98 and 1998/99 at the vegetable experimental area, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India. Plant height at maturity and the average number and weight of sweet pepper fruits were influenced by various intercropping treatments. Early and total yields were reduced significantly under different intercropping treatments. The maximum total yield was recorded for radish-cabbage-sweet pepper-onion treatment. Land equivalent ratio and net returns were higher with radish-cabbage-sweet pepper-onion, while area-time equivalency ratio were higher with cabbage-sweet pepper-onion treatment.
