Summary
Xiangyan No. 14 is a late pungent hybrid derived from the cross between a male sterile line female parent (9704A) from a sterile plant found in ox-horn pepper No. 21 and an ox-horn pepper male parent (5904) inbred line selected from a landrace in Guangxi, China with large and thick-walled fruit. It is suitable in the upper and middle regions of Yangtze River and in South China as trans-summer and winter crops, respectively. The fruit is ox-horn-shaped and straight with smooth appearance and thick skin, suitable for storage and transporation, weighs _38 g and can be harvested either in its ripening (light-green) or ripened (bright red) stages. It yields an average of 49.5-60 t/ha.
