Summary
The effects of cutting type (basal or terminal), number of nodes (2 or 3) and amount of fertilizer (N, P and K each at 0, 30, 60 or 90 kg/ha) were investigated in rooted stem cuttings planted in the field. Terminal cuttings produced more nodes/plant and leaves/plant, and greater leaf area and internode length than basal cuttings. Two-node cuttings produced taller plants with a larger leaf area than 3-node cuttings. N, P and K each at 90 kg/ha resulted in the highest number of nodes/plant and leaves/plant. Plant height and leaf area were greatest with N, P and K each at 60 kg/ha, while highest yield/plant and largest fruits were produced with each at 30 kg/ha.
