Summary
An experiment was conducted to raise the productivity of urd bean by using improved genotypes. The treatments consisted of four genotypes (Pant U-26, JU 78-3, JU 78-4 and Type-9) with two row-spacings (20 and 30 cm) and four fertility levels in a split-plot design. Pant U-26 gave the highest seed yield. A closer row-spacing was found beneficial giving an average additional grain yield of 157 kg/ha over the other spacing. The interaction effect between varieties and row-spacings was not significant. The application of N needed to be above 20 kg/ha to be of practical use. The application of P up to 75 kg/ha might not be beneficial. The interaction effects among the three factors were not significant.
