Summary
Poor growth and rot of soyabean sprouts are limiting factors in the production of soyabean. Fusarium moniliforme [Gibberella fujikuroi], F. oxysporum and F. solani were identified as the cause of soyabean sprout rot. Following seed germination, these fungi produced light-brown spots on the lower area of soyabean sprout within 3-5 days. Dark-brown symptoms occurred within 6-7 days after seed germination. The histopathology of transverse hand-sections and microtome-sections of soyabean sprout rot 4 days after F. oxysporum inoculation showed that the fungal hyphae colonized the cortex, intercellular spaces, phloem, pith and xylem vessels of sprout tissues.
