Summary
A strain of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) having a high capacity for P uptake and characterized by prolific root hair formation ("cottony root") was studied genetically. Based on data from several experiments, a monogenic, recessive mode of inheritance was indicated. The gene symbol crt has been proposed for "cottony root". [AS]
