Summary
Airborne incidence of conidia of Alternaria porri over purple blotch infected onion crops was recorded using vertical cylinder spore trap. Daily variations in the conidial incidence was related to the initiation and development of purple blotch on onion crops and prevalent weather parameters. Greater number of conidia were noticed in the air during January when the crop was in three leaf stage. Greater conidial catches were preceded by rain and high RH (above 60 percent) on the previous day. First symptoms of purple blotch appeared on 5th day after the detection of A. porri conidia in the air. [AS]
