Summary
The incidence of black mould on onions was higher in store houses than in the field at Gulbarga, India. Patterns of disease distribution on bulbs are described. Spores of the disease were found at high concentrations in store houses and increased in the air when the onions were handled. White bulbs were more susceptible than red to black mould attack. Of 10 species of fungi found on onion leaves, A. niger, A.glaucus and Alternaria sp. were the most numerous. [AS]
