Summary
Soyabean (Glycine max) cultivar Soyola (Reg. no. CV-462, PI 614702), developed by USDA-ARS, in cooperation with the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service in USA, was released in 1999 to provide a high-yielding cultivar of Group VI maturity with a decreased linolenic acid concentration in the seed lipids. Soyola is the bulk of an F5-derived line from the first backcross of a selection from the cross N87-2117-3 x Brim to the cultivar Brim. This new cultivar has yellow seeds with shiny luster and buff hila, white flowers, grey pubescence, brown pod walls, determinate growth habit and good resistance to lodging and soybean mosaic virus.
