Summary
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different row spicings under different combinations of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the growth and yield of onion. Row spacings (15,20 and 25 cm) did not produce any significant difference on the vegetative development of the plants. There was an increasing trend of bulb yield with closer spacing. Application of NPK exerted a significant effect on the yield and yield contributing characters of onion. However, the response of the fertilizer was significant only upto the level of N46 P36 K36 Kg/h. But for closer planting highest dose of NPK (69-54-54) was the best. [AS]
