Summary
Priming of seeds in 150 mM KCl at 10 degrees C for 6 days was most effective in increasing the germination rate and in shortening germination time of onion seeds. The germination rate of primed seeds was increased up to 96%, which was ~14% higher than that of non-primed seeds. The germination temperature for better priming effects from primed onion seeds was 10-15 degrees C which is relatively lower than that of the normal germination temperature of 20 degrees C. Drying primed seeds at 20 degrees C for 5 h resulted in best priming effects.
