Summary
The vegetable soybean is one of important crops in Taiwan for exporting to Japan. Kaohsiung Selection 1 is one of the best vegetable soybean cultivar with high yielding potential and good quality. However, the pods of this varieties are easy damaged during the threshing process. Trials for reducing pod damages by using hormones such as Ethrel (100x, 1000x, and 2000x) and NAA (1000x) which might promote the formation of absciss layer were carried out. Results showed that the lowest rate of pod damage and pulling force were found when plants sprayed with Ethrel 100x three days before harvesting. The pod color also affected by the treatments of plant growth regulators. More greenish and few yellowish pods were obtained when Ethrel 2000x was applied three days before harvesting. [AS]
