Summary
Taiwan's warm and humid environment favours the growth of both tropical and subropical crops and of many plant pests and diseases. Taiwan grows rice, dryland food crops, special crops, vegetables, fruits, flowers and other ornamentals. These crops are susceptible to numerous species of plant pathogens and insect pests. Pest controll is of prime importance to sustain and protect Taiwan's agricultural production. The country's integrated pest management programmes employ all availabe meaumes including chemical and non-chemcial controll. IPM cpmprises control programmes for rice, citurs, sugarcane, tea, and vegetables. [AS/thh]
