以28 個亞洲蔬菜中心種原庫茄子(Solanum melongena L.)種原為供試材料,2 個托魯巴姆(Solanum torvum)為抗病對照品種以及‘Black Beauty'為感病對照品種, 以8 個青枯病菌(Ralstoniasolanacearum)第一生理小種菌株混合成108 cfu/ml 懸浮液,於根部傷口接種評估發病指數,托魯巴姆平均發病指數為13.8%,'Black Beauty'發病指數為100%,供試種原發病指數為15.0-97.5%,平均發病指數低於25%有7 個種原,其中業界嫁接常使用的砧木品系EG190(SM6-6) 平均發病指數為66.0% , EG203(SURYA) 平均發病指數為41.3% ,EG219(BB44)平均發病指數為18.8%。從28 個茄子種原中選取17 個種原選留抗病單株自交一代後裔共21 個品系,再評估這些品系對青枯病菌的發病指數,其中16 個品系平均發病指數低於25%,可應用於茄子抗青枯病育種或做為根砧使用。
Twenty-eight eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) accessions provided by AVRDC- The World Vegetable Center were evaluated for their resistance to Ralstonia solanacearum. Two Solanum torvum accessions was used as resistance controls. Eggplant 'Black Beauty' was used as susceptible control. Bacterial suspension with 10^8 cfu/ml, prepared by mixing eight strains of Ralstonia solanacearum collected from Solanum family crops in Taiwan, was used as inoculum. Inoculation was conducted following the root cutting method. Average disease index of Solanum torvum and 'Black Beauty' was 13.8% and 100%, respectively. Disease index of the tested 28 accessions ranged from 15.0 to 97.5%. There were 7 accessions had disease index were lower under 25%. Disease index of EG190(SM6-6) , EG203(SURYA) and EG219(BB44), popular rootstock for tomato grafting in Taiwan, were 66.0%, 41.3% and 18.8%, respectively. A total of 21 S_1 lines were collected from 17 entries, which 16 S_1 lines showed less than 25% disease index. These materials could be used in breeding for resistance to bacterial wilt or used as rootstocks.
