Summary
The interrelationship between M. incognita and Ps. solanacearum on tomatoes was investigated. Combined inoculation with both organisms caused severe wilting to tomato plants. Plants incoulated with the bacterium or the nematode alone did not exhibit wilt symptoms. Presence of the bacterium in soil infested with M. incognita was of no effect on root galling. Inoculation with both pathogens caused profound decrease in plants length and shoot and root fresh and dry weights. Severity of wilt symptoms increased as bacterial populations of inoculum increased in case of tomato injured mechanically or when the soil was previously infested with M. incognita. Incidence of the disease decreased as the period between bacterial inoculation and root injury, caused by the nematode or mechanically, expands. [AS]
