Summary
Sixty nine cultivars and lines of pepper(Capsicum spp.) were evaluated in field for resistance to root rot caused by Phytophthora capsici Leonian by means of artificial inoculation of the fungus in small plots. The cultivars Malayo, Tabasco and the local selections Jalapeno 56 and 59, were considered moderately resistant; the line Mexico 29 was inmune. All the cultivars of sweet pepper were susceptible. The rainy season was better than the dry season with irrigation to do the evaluations. [AS]
