000011931 520__ $$aSoybean leafminer, Aproaerema modicella (Deventer) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is a serious pest of soybean in Madhya Pradesh and of groundnut in South India. Studies on the off-season activity of the pest revealed that after the senescence of soybean, the pest thrived successfully on `Bawachi`, Psoralea corylifolia Linn. from October to June. However, during soybean cropping season, the pest was also found infesting P. corylifolia, besides soybean. Heavy rainfall affected the larval population between the 30th June to 30th August, during which only 0.30 to 2.80 larvae/plant were observed as against 7.70 to 16.35 larvae/plant between 15th March to 15th June, when the weather was dry with bright sunshine. The occasional rains also enhanced the multiplication of the pest. [AS]
