Commercial cultivars of eggplant from worldwide collections were screened in a greenhouse for resistance to bacterial wilt caused by P. solanacearum. Among the 30 cultivars tested, M701 F1 and Slim Jim were highly resistant with only 3% and 7% of disease indices, respectively. Their resistance was superior to the resistant control. Terong Hijau. These resistant varieties could be of great importance in an eggplant breeding project. [AS]
